Greetings, fellow Kossacks. I apologize ahead of time for posting a too-short diary, but I need help finding an article.
A couple weeks ago, I saw a piece (I'm almost sure it was in the New York Times, but several searches have turned up nada) about a recent study on talent, and the question of talent or skills being hereditary or the result of practice.
The basic thrust of the article was that our assumptions about people being "born" with a certain skill (think Buddy Rich born to play drums, or someone else "born" to excel at math) are pretty much false - anyone who devotes themselves to any skill can master that skill. The question is commitment, not natural ability.
Anyway, I need this article for a class I'm teaching. For once, I did not save the article, and now I'm kicking myself for it.
If you've seen it, or can find it where I can't, I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks ahead of time for your help, and to the DKos masters, I will not make a habit of this kind of diary.
So while I'm here, has anyone seen my car keys? ;)
